Prayer-for-the-Sick: Asthma

i have asthma i want a healing prayer.

This prayer request for healing prompted the following post. First, some facts. The Center for Disease Control gives this definition for asthma on its website:

… a disease that affects your lungs. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing. Asthma can be controlled by taking medicine and avoiding the triggers that can cause an attack. You must also remove the triggers in your environment that can make your asthma worse.

The National Institutes of Health offers this:

…a chronic disease that affects your airways. Your airways are tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs. If you have asthma, the inside walls of your airways become sore and swollen. That makes them very sensitive, and they may react strongly to things that you are allergic to or find irritating. When your airways react, they get narrower and your lungs get less air. This can cause wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and trouble breathing, especially early in the morning or at night.

Asthma is treated with 1) quick-relief medicines to stop asthma symptoms and 2) long-term control medicines to prevent symptoms.

These are the natural, medical definitions and outside-in resolutions are recommended. However, despite the influence and attraction of drug commercials, and the availability of remedies, many people would prefer to enjoy a cure rather than a care for their ailments.

So, let’s explore the inside-out, taking a look at some alternative perspectives:

• How Asthma Healed My Heart:  My journey to healing meant confronting some fears, saying some prayers, and learning to love my dog again.
• Spiritually Rooted Diseases:  Asthma may be rooted in fear and anxiety; and toxins have been building up from a spiritual root.
• Emotions and the underlying causes of dis-ease. an alternative perspective.

Asthma and Hay Fever:  Johns Hopkins University is now teaching that Hay Fever and Asthma are not caused by air born allergens. It has nothing to do with breathing, dander, dust, pollen, etc. Anxiety and fear cause it. It can be inherited, but it’s coming out of deep-rooted anxiety and fear. I have proved this many times over.

• Spiritual Roots of Disease:  A perspective from the Moody Manual [Deliverance]  God has not given us the spirit of fear. [2 Timothy 1:7 [show] for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (ESV)
  ] Fear is a spirit that God has not given. Many roots to dis-ease starts with fear.

What else does the Bible say about breath?

First mention is in Genesis 2:7 [show] then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. (ESV)

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Job 33:4 [show] The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Based on these two verses, asthma could be interpreted as a challenge to our very connection to God.

Also read Ezekiel 37:5-10 [show] Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD." So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live." So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. (ESV)
: Can life be restored by the spoken word of prophecy? How could you apply what is written?

You will meditate on the Scriptures day and night – the ones that promise what belongs to you. Get them into your system. Believe them, and prophesy them over yourself to the point that you can command the negative factors to leave your being. Be sure you have forgiven any who have “trespassed against you.” It is amazing how confidence in prayer grows, expands and liberates. It even makes us bold enough to pray for others and believe for their healing.

Finally, worship God with abandonment. Adore him. Tell him how much you love him and how grateful you are for his loving you. Sing to him. Delight in his holy word. We have experienced His Presence in a wonderful way during our midnight worship meetings. Read some of the posts at GloryQuest.org. He is waiting for you also – in the land of the living.

With Resurrection Sunday just recently observed, let us take note of the finality of “It is finished” and “by his stripes we are healed.” And that ought to settle it in every Christian’s mind once for all time. Jesus declared something else that applies here: John 10:10 [show] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (ESV)
and something referred to in Hebrews 13:5-6,8 [show] Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?" Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (ESV)
. Yet, when we haven’t yet identified the “thief,” we carry on in other ways.

Psalm 150:6 [show] Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
sums it up:

Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Prayer-for-the-Sick: Missing Child

The search for missing children has expanded well beyond the milk cartons of years ago. Email is faster and spreads virally like social media. That is how I received this AMBER Alert regarding Ashley Flores. The heart-wrenching plea from her mother reads:

My 13 year old girl, Ashley Flores, is missing… She has been missing for two weeks now.. Maybe if everyone passes this on, someone will see this child. That is how the girl from Stevens Point was found, by circulation of her picture on TV…. The Internet circulates even overseas, South America , and Canada etc. Please pass this to everyone in your address book.

With GOD on her side, she will be found.
I am asking you all, begging you to please forward this email on to anyone and everyone you know, PLEASE.

Jesus says in the Bible that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy . . . [John 10:10 [show] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (ESV)
] And it is unmistakeable that this parent’s joy has been stolen with the disappearance of her child.

How do we pray for these loved ones?

• First, we ask for God’s mercy and grace in the circumstance, and certainly for the safe return of the child to family and friends.
• We also pray for the peace that passes understanding to the troubled parents.
• Then we pray for deliverance of the abductor or kidnapper responsible for the child’s disappearance because, as the Apostle Paul stated,

We wrestle not against flesh and blood. . . . [Ephesians 6:12 [show] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (ESV)
]

So we pray even more fervently, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.” As more of heaven breaks into the earth realm, we can look forward to joy instead of sorrow.

Prayer-for-the-Sick: Emotions

Emotions are breaking out, globally, locally, and personally. Many issues are marked by violence, as the news readily reports. They affect families, the public, and even nations. These outbreaks are fueled by anger, and many people are confused.

What is going on? It is recorded in John 16:33 [show] I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." (ESV)
that Jesus foretold these troubles. He also foretold how we transcend them. (Mark 13:24 -34 [show] "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. "But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. (ESV)
) Yet, though many professing Christians are confused, they neglect to pray.

God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33 [show] For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, (ESV)

The Apostle Paul advised that we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with adversarial spirits (Verse12 of Ephesians 6:10-18 [show] Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, (ESV)
). Moderns often refer to this as “The Matrix.”

What’s the bottom line? Perhaps, “Who’s in control?” Of course, people do relate to other people and this is where so much friction takes place, in relationships. We often associate with energy vampires, manipulative people, and just plain bullies. So here are some various perspectives on “how to protect your own emotions.” Some of the applications might seem questionable. Our position is: Listen and then “Search the Scriptures.”

• Narcissist
• Victim
• Controller
• Constant Talker
• Drama Queen
